Join us in Sarasota, Florida for the ARLIS/NA Southeast Chapter Conference, October 19-21! Registration is now open through this form:
Please note that conference activities will be in person with the exception of the business meeting, which will be accessible online through Zoom on Thursday, October 20th at 8:45am Eastern. (Zoom link forthcoming.) We invite you to register for the virtual business meeting at no cost using the link above.
For those attending in person, conference highlights include:
- Tours and activities at Ringling College’s The Makerspace and Special Collections Center; and The Ringling Museum Art Library, Archives, and Ca d’Zan
- Presentations by Southeast colleagues
- An opportunity to view exhibitions at The Ringling Museum and the Sarasota Art Museum, as well as the Ringling College Campus Galleries
- A keynote by artist, Jason Lazarus, whose work engages with archives, collections, fantasies, and revolutions.
Our conference hotel is the Courtyard Sarasota/Bradenton Airport located near the conference sites of Ringling College of Art and Design and The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art as well as the Sarasota airport for those traveling from out of town. Reserve your room by September 30th to take advantage of the conference rate of $119 per night.

Dear Colleagues,
The Southeast Chapter of the Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/SE) is accepting proposals for presentations at the 2022 Annual Conference, which will be held in person in Sarasota, Florida, on October 19th – 21st, 2022.
This year we will be hosting both lightning rounds and presentations. Lightning rounds are typically 5-10 minutes in length and presentations are to be 20 minutes in length. Both types of presentations will be followed by a question-and-answer period. Presentations may discuss, but are not limited to, the following topics and themes:
· Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Library initiatives or projects, mentoring, critical librarianship
· Assessment: Assessment Plans, Performance Funding Metrics, Altmetrics
· Collections: Archives, Special Collections, Open Educational Resources, Collection Development
· Digital Scholarship: Digital Humanities, Born-Digital Resources, Metadata, Scholarly Communication, Institutional Repositories, Asset Management
· Instruction: Information Literacy, Visual Literacy, ACRL Frameworks, Curriculum Development, Pedagogy, Embedded Librarianship, Instructional Technology, Professional Development
· Outreach: Marketing, Promotion, Institutional Partnerships, Subject Liaisons, Programming, Exhibitions
· Spaces: Makerspaces, Renovations, New Construction, Learning Labs
Please submit proposals of no more than 250 words via this Google Form by September 7, 2022. Accepted proposals will be notified by September 10, 2022. Send any questions to Ann H or Lindsey. We look forward to reading your proposals and to seeing you at the conference!

Save the date! The ARLIS/NA Southeast Chapter is pleased to announce that our annual fall meeting will take place October 19-21, 2022 in the “Florida sunshine” in Sarasota. The event will be in person and will be hosted at Ringling College of Art and Design, with meetings planned for the main academic campus as well as the affiliated Sarasota Art Museum. Tours and other activities will take place at The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art and other locations around Sarasota. We are also planning a few hybrid opportunities to allow for virtual attendance. Stay tuned for more details!
More information about the conference program, including the keynote speaker, Chapter business meeting, call for presentations, and registration is also forthcoming.

About the Mary Ellen LoPresti Publication Award
Past LoPresti Award Winners
The ARLIS/NA Southeast LoPresti Award Committee is pleased to announce the 37th Annual Mary Ellen LoPresti Art Publication Awards Competition for publications copyrighted in 2020.
Museums and galleries, educational institutions, libraries, organizations, and commercial presses are encouraged to submit publications for consideration. All publications will be judged on the quality of content and book design within the appropriate category. The number of items that may be submitted is not restricted.
Only art and architecture books, exhibition catalogues, electronic publications (DVDs), serials, and artist’s books published/copyrighted during the 2020 calendar year in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, or the Virgin Islands are eligible for consideration for the 2021 award. In-house newsletters, posters, invitations, and other promotional material will not be considered.
Entries should be received by August 31, 2021, to be considered. There is no entry fee, but ARLIS/NA Southeast reserves the right to retain all works submitted for consideration.

All you must have is a willingness to meet with your mentor/mentee virtually once or twice a month, and a willingness to listen and share. All levels are encouraged, welcomed, and invited to join us for more information!
