Apply now for the 2019 Professional Development Travel Award!

Are you hoping to attend the 47th ARLIS/NA Annual Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, March 26-30, 2019? The Southeast Chapter will award one eligible applicant $500 to spend on travel, lodging, registration and meals associated with professional development activities at the annual ARLIS/NA conference.

2017 Southeast Travel Award Winner

We’re pleased to announce that Britt Boler is the recipient of the 2017 ARLIS/NA-SE Professional Development Travel Award! Britt is the Art and Design Library Research Assistant at Florida State University. The meeting in New Orleans will be her first ARLIS/NA annual conference. Be sure to stop by her poster titled “Facsimiles as Open Access for Interactive Research.” Britt looks forward to meeting art library professionals and engaging in the variety of sessions ARLIS/NA offers.

2017 ARLIS/NA-SE Professional Development Travel Award

Are you an art librarian or library student living in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands territory? Are you hoping to attend the 45th ARLIS/NA Annual Conference in New Orleans, LA February 5-9, 2017?
To encourage the professional development of our members, the Art Libraries Society of North America Southeast Chapter (ARLIS/NA-SE) will sponsor one $500 (USD) award for the strongest applicant to attend ARLIS/NA in New Orleans. Please see below for eligibility and required duties of the award recipient.

2016 Conference Travel Award Winner

On behalf of the 2016 ARLIS/NA-SE Travel Award Committee, we are pleased to announce that Breanne Crumpton is our 2016 ARLIS/NA-SE Professional Development Travel Award winner!
Breanne is the GSK Library Fellow at the North Carolina Museum of Art and a member of ARLIS/NA and ARLIS/NA-SE. She is the Conference Planning Liaison for ArLiSNAP and a member of the subcommittee for ARLIS/NA research awards. She hopes to grow her network of colleagues and build her knowledge of current issues and practices in art librarianship. She is especially looking forward to attending sessions on library advocacy.

2016 ARLIS/SE Professional Development Travel Award

Are you an art librarian or library student living in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, and the U.S. Virgin Islands territory?

The ARLIS/NA-Southeast Chapter Travel Award is an excellent opportunity to help fund your conference travel.

Our best candidate will receive a $500 (USD) award to attend the joint ARLIS/NA and VRA conference in Seattle, WA on March 8-12, 2016. Applications are being accepted through Friday, January 29, 2016.

2015 Conference Travel Award Winner

On behalf of the 2015 ARLIS/NA-SE Travel Award Committee, I am pleased to announce that Sara DeWaay is our 2015 ARLIS/NA-SE Professional Development Travel Award winner!
Sara is the Art & Architecture Librarian at the J. Murrey Atkins Library at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She will be presenting a poster on an in-progress project of redesigning a space in the Architecture Branch Library to have a multitude of uses for the library and campus as a whole! She also plans on including information about involving students in this process!
Sara is a member of ARLIS/NA and ARLIS/NA-SE, but a first time annual conference attendee. She’s excited to learn more about what’s happening in art librarianship and to make more connections with the chapter and the association.

Apply now! Student Diversity Award for Conference Attendance

Students: Are you interested in attending the 43rd Annual ARLIS/NA Fort Worth Conference in Texas March 19-23, 2015? Consider applying for the Student Diversity Award for Conference Attendance!

Deadline: November 30, 2014 (11:59pm EST)

This award was established by ARLIS/NA to provide funding for a student to attend the ARLIS/NA Conference. A mentor from the ARLIS/NA Diversity Committee, who will facilitate the recipient’s attendance at the Conference, will be assigned to the recipient of the award prior to the Conference. The recipient will write a brief post-conference report evaluating her/his conference experience for the ARLIS/NA Update Diversity column.
Award Info:
$1000 – Award may be used for expenses related to attendance at the conference: ARLIS/NA student membership, conference registration, travel, lodging, etc.
Eligibility Requirements:
To be considered for the award, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be enrolled as a graduate student in Library Studies or Information Studies or recently graduated (within 12 mos. of graduation)
  • Be a U.S. resident and a member of a racial/ethnic group as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau: African American/Black; Latino/Hispanic, Asian/Pacific Islander, or American Indian/Alaska Native
    -or-
    Be a Canadian resident and of aboriginal identity, as defined in the Canadian Employment Equity Act (“aboriginal peoples” means persons who are Indians, Inuit, or Métis)
    -or-
    Be a Canadian resident and a member of a visible minority, as defined by the Canadian Employment Equity Act (members of “visible minorities” means persons, other than aboriginal peoples, who are non-Caucasian in race or non-white in colour)
  • Be interested in career in art librarianship/visual resources
