Save the Date! 2022 ARLIS/NA Southeast Chapter Conference in Sarasota, FL

Save the date! The ARLIS/NA Southeast Chapter is pleased to announce that our annual fall meeting will take place October 19-21, 2022 in the “Florida sunshine” in Sarasota. The event will be in person and will be hosted at Ringling College of Art and Design, with meetings planned for the main academic campus as well as the affiliated Sarasota Art Museum. Tours and other activities will take place at The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art and other locations around Sarasota. We are also planning a few hybrid opportunities to allow for virtual attendance. Stay tuned for more details!

More information about the conference program, including the keynote speaker, Chapter business meeting, call for presentations, and registration is also forthcoming.  

The conference hotel is the Courtyard Sarasota/Bradenton Airport with group rate rooms starting at $119 per night. The last day to book at that rate is Friday, September 30. Use this link to book: Book your group rate for Art Libraries Society of North America

2021 Annual Conference – October 14th and 15th

Dear Colleagues,

Take a break from the stress of this semester and join us virtually for the Southeast Chapter of the Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/SE) 2021 Annual Conference, hosted from the University of South Carolina Beaufort, on October 14-15, 2021!

We are hosting 90 minutes of lightning round presentations on topics of open access in the arts, engaging faculty through service design, collection development policies for small academic libraries, assessment, creativity in libraries, accessibility of ARLIS/NA’s video content, and building communities of practice in makerspaces.

We are also very proud to present Artist/Librarian Sauda Mitchell as our keynote speaker! Sauda Mitchell will discuss the role of archival research in the creation of her prints and artist books.

Other programming events include a morning drawing meditation by USCB art professor Joanna Angell, a live virtual tour of the Reconstruction Era Museum in Beaufort (where Reconstruction began), access to asynchronous virtual programming on the history of Beaufort,  virtual ocean minutes, a raffle, mentoring opportunities, and a happy hour presentation about a  local old school video game, Bugs ‘N Boo Hags, by USCB professor Dr. Brian Canada, and more.

To register for the conference and see the detailed conference program, take a look at our conference site. Once the conference begins and you are registered, you will be provided with access to a special site for attendees.  Conference rates are $35 for regular conference attendance, $20 for first-time attendees, and $10 for students/retirees/in-between positions.

2021 Virtual Conference – Register Now + Call for Proposals Extended to September 7th!

Dear Colleagues,

The Southeast Chapter of the Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/SE) is accepting proposals for presentations at the 2021 Annual Conference, which will be held online on October 14th – 15th, 2021. More information about the conference, including online registration, can be found on our chapter’s conference website.

This year we will be hosting both lightning round and poster presentations:

  • Lightning round presentations are to be talks c. 10 minutes in length and may include several presentation slides.
  • Poster presentations are to be 3-5 minute elevator talks about the project alongside a single slide in poster format.

Both types of presentations will be followed by a question-and-answer period. Presentations may discuss, but are not limited to, the following topics and themes:

  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Library initiatives or projects, mentoring, critical librarianship
  • Assessment: Assessment Plans, Performance Funding Metrics, Altmetrics
  • Collections: Archives, Special Collections, Open Educational Resources, Collection Development
  • COVID-19: Agility and innovations in response to online instruction, reference, etc. as they pertain to Arts Librarianship
  • Digital Scholarship: Digital Humanities, Born-Digital Resources, Metadata, Scholarly Communication, Institutional Repositories, Asset Management
  • Instruction: Information Literacy, ACRL Frameworks, Curriculum Development, Embedded Librarianship, Instructional Technology, Professional Development
  • Outreach: Marketing, Promotion, Institutional Partnerships, Subject Liaisons, Programming
  • Spaces: Makerspaces, Renovations, New Construction, Learning Labs

Please submit proposals of no more than 250 words for poster or lightning via this Google Form by September 7th, 2021. Accepted proposals will be notified by September 10th, 2021. 2021 LoPresti Publication Award Call for Entries!

About the Mary Ellen LoPresti Publication Award
Past LoPresti Award Winners
The ARLIS/NA Southeast LoPresti Award Committee is pleased to announce the 37th Annual Mary Ellen LoPresti Art Publication Awards Competition for publications copyrighted in 2020.
Museums and galleries, educational institutions, libraries, organizations, and commercial presses are encouraged to submit publications for consideration. All publications will be judged on the quality of content and book design within the appropriate category. The number of items that may be submitted is not restricted.
Only art and architecture books, exhibition catalogues, electronic publications (DVDs), serials, and artist’s books published/copyrighted during the 2020 calendar year in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, or the Virgin Islands are eligible for consideration for the 2021 award. In-house newsletters, posters, invitations, and other promotional material will not be considered.
Entries should be received by August 31, 2021, to be considered. There is no entry fee, but ARLIS/NA Southeast reserves the right to retain all works submitted for consideration.

Save the date! The ARLIS/NA Southeast Chapter is pleased to announce that our annual fall meeting will  take place October 14-15, 2021! The event will be virtual and will be hosted from Beaufort, South Carolina.

Join us for a full program of presentations, lightning rounds, virtual posters, and virtual events, in addition to our regular chapter business meeting. More information about the conference program and registration is forthcoming, as well as a call for presentations.

2020 Virtual Conference – Register Now + Call for Proposals

 

Dear Colleagues,

The Southeast Chapter of the Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/SE) is accepting proposals for presentations at the 2020 Annual Conference, which will be held online on October 15th-16th. More information about our chapter and the conference can be found on our chapter website.

The conference will be FREE this year, but registration is required.

This year we will be hosting both lightning rounds and presentations. Lightning rounds are typically 5-6 minutes in length and presentations are to be 20 minutes in length. Both sessions will be followed by a question-and-answer period. Sessions may discuss, but are not limited to, the following topics and themes:

  • Assessment: Assessment Plans, Performance Funding Metrics, Altmetrics
